  • Does insurance pay for compression garments?

Insurance companies differ in their coverage of compression garments. For this reason, we are unable to submit claims for you. However, we encourage you to contact you insurance company in case they are able to reimburse you for your garments.

Do the products we carry offer manufacturer warranties?

Be sure to carefully inspect your products as soon as you receive them for manufacturer's defects. Note that manufacturer warranties do NOT include: normal wear and tear, pulled threads, runs, wear at the toe, or holes due to fingernails, toenails, or snags. Garments that have been customized at the factory by the addition of silicone bands or other changes are not returnable unless they are found to have manufacturer defects.
    Juzo
Juzo guarantees their products will be free of manufacturer's defects for six months from the date of purchase, and that the garment will maintain its prescribed compression for six months. Juzo has a 15% restocking fee on unworn garments returned in the original packaging.

    Definitions:
Manufacturer Defect: a flaw in manufacture that is existent and apparent at the moment the box is opened. This does not include: ordering the incorrect size, normal wear and tear, pulled threads, runs, wear at the toe, or holes due to fingernails, toenails, or snags; or any problem caused by the wearer in application, improper use, or care of the garment.
Unworn garment: Garments are items of personal apparel and as such may not be returned if they have been worn for more than 10 minutes. If you are unsure of the fit, never wear your new garment for more than a few minutes. If you have any doubts or questions about the fit, please call our office for advice.
Original Packaging: The garment box, instructions and, if applicable, all accessories that were in the box when you opened it from the manufacturer.

    Do you accept returns?

We are only able to accept returns for obvious, significant defects in manufacturing. If you open a brand new stocking and it is defective, call 631-385-7258 for instructions on receiving a replacement garment. If you have ordered the incorrect size, and can return the unworn garment in the original box, you may return the garment for a refund (not including shipping & handling) minus a restocking fee of 15%. For instructions on returning unopened orders, call 631-385-7258.

    Is my problem a defect?

There is a dimple in the stocking cuff.
This is not a defect, it is found on every sleeve with a cuff. This dimple is caused by the starting of the seam and does not affect the wear, effectiveness, or fit of your garment. Getting a replacement will not be helpful, because the replacement will also have this dimple.

I stuck my finger through the sleeve and now there is a hole in it.
As frustrating as it is to damage your own garment, this does not qualify as a manufacturing defect. Compression garments are delicate, and easily damaged by sharp edges or high pressures on small areas. Replacement garments would not be any less susceptible to this damage. If you treat your garments with care they will last you a long time.

    2) Compression Garments are medical devices, and need more care than personal items of clothing

The high performance fabrics and finishes of your garment allow the fabric to breathe and take moisture away from the skin to the outer surface of the fabric.Daily washing is necessary to prolong the life of garments. Oils and salts from your skin can break down the fibers. Wash in cold water with a detergent that does not contain bleach. Bleach will break down the fibers of your garment and shorten its useful life. Do not use Woolite, it contains bleach. Do not use fabric softeners as the "fatty" material in the softener attaches to the fabric. The fabric feels softer, but it builds up over time and reduces the ability of the fabric to manage moisture and breathe. Air dry your garments or tumble dry on cool. JUZO recommends machine washing or hand washing to maintain the guarantee. See your sleeve box for specifics.

    3) Do not wear garments longer than six months

Garments older than six months should be replaced. They will no longer have the original compression and may not be providing the valuable medical therapy you need. Medical bills for improperly treated swelling will cost you more than effective garments! It is most effective to have more than one garment. All garments tend to lose some of their elasticity during daily wear. Alternate your garments to allow the elasticity to recover and prolong their effectiveness.

    4) Wear your garments all day

Generally, stockings are worn from first thing in the morning until bedtime. Stockings should always be worn when exercising. If you feel it is necessary to take a break from compression during the day, always elevate the limb so that swelling stays under control.
If you have difficulty getting your garment on, ask about fitting gloves, Alps silicone, Donners and Slippies. See our accessories for helpful application and care items.

    5) Putting on your garment

Inside each garment box you will find wearing and washing instructions. Read these immediately. Juzo Arm Sleeve SlippiesTo make it easier to put on your garment, start early in the morning before your feet hit the ground. Your arm should be dry. The use of fitting gloves is recommended to make the process easier. Slide the folded sleeve over the hand and then milk the sleeve up the arm. Try not to let the sleeve bunch up at the elbow. Donning aids such as slippies and donning gloves can make the process easier.Take your time! Never pull from the top. Spread the sleeve evenly, working upwards a little at a time. When adjusting the garment, always fold the top down and work up. Finish by smoothing out any wrinkles. When removing the garment, never roll your sleeve down. Always peel down to the elbow and milk off the hand.
